Visor for OSX (Visor.bundle) is a lovely Quake-like interface for Terminal that I absolutely couldn't live without. Unfortunately, upgrading to Snow Leopard disables it.

Re-enabling it, thankfully, is very easy: Go to Applications → Utilities, ⌘-click Terminal.app and select Get Info (or press ⌘-i) and check the Open in 32-bit mode checkbox. Finally, start Terminal.app and you should have your beloved Visor back.

Getting Terminal Visor for OSX working with Snow Leopard

  1. This solution didn’t work for me, although I am running a clean install of Snow Leopard. I can see the Visor icon in the menu bar, but nothing happens when I try the key combination or manually select “Show Visor.”

  2. Ditto, I can see the visor icon in the menu bar, but no visor terminal window, did this work on it’s own? Or does it require the 32bit/64bit replacing of the terminal.app described in the linked to blog post?

  3. Third.
If I play around a bit it seems I can make the panel show up briefly by selecting “Full Screen”, but it fails whenever I try to invoke it with the Key Combo. It does seem like Terminal gains focus though. It’s just the panel that doesn’t show.

  4. I still highly recommend my solution. It keeps your main terminal app at 64-bit and works 100%. http://www.metaskills.net/2009/8/18/visor-terminal-on-snow-leopard

  7. I have the same problem, visor launches and window focus changes to Terminal but nothing is displayed on the screen.

  8. I found I had to start from scratch, as I had a version of SIMBL that was incompatible.

    So what DEF works :

    - SIMBL-0.8.2.tbz
    - Visor2.0
    - 32bit mode Terminal.app
