Resizing embedded screencasts with TechSmith Jing

Adobe's announcement that Google and Yahoo! will be indexing Flash content at a much deeper level was met with all sorts of reactions last week, ranging from praise from the Flash and Flex communities to utter shock and horror from some HTML fundamentalists expressing fear that the end was nigh.

Well, it appears that Google has already started using this new indexing system and some Flash developers are not happy by how much it is revealing about their applications.

The SWF format is now totally open. Rejoice!

This is big: Adobe is removing restrictions on the use of the SWF and FLV/F4V specifications as part of their new Open Screen Project 2008.

When Mark Doherty emailed me to tell me about his post on Adobe's Open Screen Project 2008, I wasn't expecting such an important announcement.

The GAE SWF Project version 1.33

I just updated The GAE SWF Project to add the proof-of-concept Google App Engine Flex 3 client. The source code download now includes the source code for the Flex project.

The Flex client works exactly like the Flash 9 client and shares an almost identical codebase. 99% of the framework is the same.
