I just got the debugger analyzer for The Tangent working. It took a little eye-crossing bit-twiddling which I had a lot of fun with and it was lovely to see it work when it finally did.

Tangent Tease So, here's the tease of the day -- a tiny slice of the s _ _ f _ r _ a t . org page. (See what I did there? You've got another letter!)

OK, so here are two more letters from the domain name: s _ _ f _ r _ _ _ .org. Hmm...

And some more details:

I started developing The Tangent because I find that the existing methods of getting data into Flash are overly complicated. We need something really simple to encourage developers to build mashups and experiment without being discouraged with loads of plumbing and scared away with reams of code. I've went into more detail on this on Yapmo so I won't repeat that here. Needless to say, it's time for a new way of doing things.

Movie demonstrating the LiveDocs performance issue

Ever wonder why Adobe LiveDocs (sample page) is so slow? It takes, on average, a single use of LiveDocs to give up on it forever. I remember doing so many moons ago when I found it so slow that it was unusable. Nowadays, if a Google search brings up LiveDocs and I mistakenly click on it, my series of reactions is to (a) frown, (b) sigh, and (c) hit the back button as quickly as possible before that mother of a beast chokes up my browser.

I just found out (five days too late, apparently) that The Show with Ze Frank is over. Man, I wasn't a regular viewer but the news hit me hard. Whenever I happened by, The Show felt like something that had always been there and would always be there. A daily dose of energy for those times you needed it.

Ze's one of the most talented people I've had the pleasure of meeting and here's hoping we'll see more of him in the future.

Missing Ze Frankness

Enom has been screwing me around for the past five days -- making it impossible for me to register the .IO domain name I wanted for project codename The Tangent (and here.) Not a bad codename as far as codenames go, eh? <borat>Niiiice, I like!</borat>.

Anyway, in the meanwhile I decided that having a .IO domain name would have been cool but a .ORG, even if it's a bit longer, will probably be more familiar to people. So I registered a domain today and I'm going to start setting up the site as I continue developing the codebase. I've implemented the core features but I want to add some security and and hopefully an optimization or two before releasing the alpha.
