I just stumbled on a simple little site called crossdomainxml.org that is devoted to the hugely useful yet somewhat shy and strangely mysterious crossdomain.xml file.

In the early days of Flash, the security sandbox was quite lax and sandbox security errors were almost unheard of. With each new version, however, Adobe (ok, ok, Macromedia) heightened the security of the player to address XSS (cross-site scripting) issues and other security concerns (like the hijacking of trusted network data from untrusted networks).

spam2.0

It looks like spammers are finally catching on to the whole Web 2.0 thing. I just received an email that tells me that we're about to enter the era of Spam 2.0. Notice the rounded corners, the fancy reflections and the pastel colour palette. (Yes, I'm now officially in no man's land with my spelling now -- having lived in the UK long enough to pick up the spelling of certain words and yet not others!)

I just saw that Yahoo! has released a Flash-specific section on their Developer Network called Flash Developer Center so I took out my Beretta and said "I'm gonna shoot somebody"... umm... sorry... what was I saying?

Oh yes, Yahoo! So go check it out. And they even have a link to OSFlash on the page in the External Resources section. How cool!

I'm having email issues on my server at the moment. If you've been trying to reach me at aralbalkan.com or ariaware.com within the last day or so, I most probably have not received your email.

I've got my ISP looking into it now and I'll post an update when the issue is fixed.

I've just started using TextMate on OS X and I'm very impressed. In fact, I'm using it to write this blog post at the moment. To add the link to TextMate, above, all I had to do was press ⌃⇧⌘L with the word "TextMate" selected and it did a lookup on Google, found the link to the Macromates site and created the link for me. How cool!
