The web standards project has a terribly elitist post by Ben Henick that is an unfair and uninformed dismissal of SWFObject. In the post Ben states:

As for SWFObject, it serves a purpose that I might have someday in the face of a tight deadline, relaxed project requirements, or a requirement for the most recent version of Flash. However, I’ve been through every line of SWFObject’s code and can state with confidence that while it obeys the letter of the W3C Recommendations, it totally disregards their spirit.

Ralf Bokelberg and Sönke Rohde have released Zeroi on OSFlash.

Zeroi is a logging abstraction layer that lets you use any logging system (SOS, admin tool, luminic box, ...) in your MTASC projects, without code changes in your application. Here's how it works, according to Ralf's email to the OSFlash mailing list:

I've run into a design limitation with the MacBook Pro that I curiously hadn't heard mentioned in my extensive (read: obsessive) research before taking the plunge and buying one: The screen doesn't tilt back enough. I type a lot with my notebook on my lap (in case of the MacBook Pro, due to the crazy heat, I put it on its second skin cover, not directly on my jeans) and not being able to tilt the screen back is a major ergonomic annoyance. Also, this is going to be a problem when presenting at tilted podiums.

This thread on MacNN forums discusses the issue further.

I lost my Skype account today thanks to their unbelievable password policy. When you click on their Forgot your password? link, you get taken to a page that asks you for your user name and the email address that you *originally signed up with*. WTF? I don't even have that domain any more! Furthermore, Skype lets you change your email address in your profile but will not send your password to that email. It's as bad as banks here in the UK thinking that living at a single address for three years makes you more trustworthy or something (it's because we don't have a real credit rating system here.) In any case, I've got a new Skype account now so please ping me if you were on my list and I'll add you on again.

Skype: Big thumbs down!
