For the past two years,
Emilie Wood, my wonderful wife, has been the heart and soul of the
London MMUG -- working both behind the scenes as well as up front to help create the wonderful community we have today. Today, she announced that she will no longer be working at Ariaware and is leaving her post at the London MMUG. Of course, I knew about this earlier but it was still very moving to read her announcement as I know this will mark the end of an era at the MMUG. I know I'm biased here but, for me, the MMUG was your smile at the door, the sight of you walking around the room with your camera and those annoying "5 minutes", "2 minutes" and "Stop Yapping Already" signs :) (Ok, so I made up the last one.)

If you haven't heard yet,
OSFlash is holding its first online conference, called
OFLA Online, on Friday, 21st of October at 18:00 GMT. It will be held via Breeze (courtesy of Macromedia) and is free to attend.
The three-hour conference will see eight 30 minute presentations by leading members of the Open Source Flash community. There are some exciting sessions planned, including the unveiling of Red5, the open source project that aims to be an alternative to Flash Media Server and some of the enterprise data services in the upcoming Flex 2.

Man, what a day...
I'm going to speaking at a conference in Brighton on November 11th -- three days after my birthday and, coincidentally (yeah, right), when the
new OSFlash mascot will be decided! :)
It's called d.Construct and is being organized by a friend of mine, a fellow Brightoner and a web standards guru, Andy Budd.

Nokia 20Lives web site after reading about the cool Flash games on there from
FlashSteamWorks only to be greeted with a message telling me that I should install Flash Player 7.
At first I thought it was a bad detection script and it couldn't handle Flash Player 8 (remember people, always >= not ==) but, on closer inspection, I saw that the message was crafted directly at users with Flash Player 8.
