Design Jam London 2: post-mortem
Design Jam London 2 was a fun and rewarding experience.
I was honored to be asked, alongside Mathias Dahlström from LastMinute.com and Tim Brooke from Nokia, to mentor Design Jam London 2.

I was saddened to learn that many of the people in the room were in the process of being made redundant. Schools are already axing ICT from their offerings, before the government has even announced anything. Their whole budgets cut, they see the subject as expensive and expendable. The process was described as "slash and burn".
The last thing we should be doing is to cut funding for digital literacy. Quite on the contrary, we should be redoubling our efforts and our investment to fix it. Britain's digital future deserves no less.
In fact, for some inexplicable reason which must make perfect sense to you if you're a fat cat making billions after being bailed out by taxpayer's – i.e., our – money, HSBC allows you to do download statements in a variety of formats but only for recent transactions. As of this writing, my recent transactions only go as far back as the start of January, 2011. I also have access to "previous statements" that date back to the start of last year but – and it's a big but – I can't download them. I can print them but that's about it. WTF indeed.
A bookmarklet that lets you download previous statements from your HSBC Personal account in CSV format.
Update: sorry everyone, the event sold out in under 24 hours but there is a waiting list you can sign up to in case anyone drops out. Thank-you all for your overwhelming interest and here's looking forward to seeing a bunch of you there in March!
