Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I’ve heard good things about The Planet and RimuHosting. I also talked to Rackspace but they seemed far too interested in selling me the most expensive solution they could. In the end, I went with LiquidWeb, which also hosts OSFlash.

I’ve had good experiences with RimuHosting out of New Zealand. Maybe you should give them a try.

For a dedicated server, may I recommend The Planet? http://www.theplanet.com. I’ve been with them for several years, and can’t complain a bit. Good basic server-level and connectivity-level support. Usually very responsive. And they’ve never done anything to me like what you’ve experienced.

For a dedicated server with out-of-this-world tech support, Contegix is great. http://www.contegix.com. They’re actually helping me get an apache config file customized in the peculiar way that I need.

That sucks.

I since replied that I would like the SWXFormat.org site moved to a dedicated server and I am waiting for their response.

Why would you carry on with this host? What happens next time a problem arises? i’d stick with a company you know care.
