For the last few months, I've been routinely telling the anyone who cares what I've been up to: what I'm working on, events I'm attending, that I just stubbed my toe -- anything, really -- on Twitter.
Twitter is a presence application that makes me feel connected with my friends without requiring undue effort and without getting in my way. It's the first so-called Web 2.0 app that I've been using on a daily basis. And we definitely need more Flashers on it! :)
If you do sign up, add me as a friend and you'll be able to stalk me.
If you do start using Twitter, you might find Friend or Follower useful. It's a little Flex application I threw together that lets you see who was added you as a Friend so you can add them back if you want to. And if you want to extend Twitter, there's an official Twitter API as well as TwitAPI, a little suite of API extensions for Twitter that I've been hacking together in my spare time.
Oh yes, and keep an eye on Yapmo. I'm very close to announcing the tangent I've been on recently. After which time, I'm going to be using the fruits of that tangent on my Yapmo apps and developing both concurrently.

i’ve been stalking you on twitter for a while ;)
btw – you’ve got a borked url – http://aralbalkan.com/twitter.com/aral
Hah! :) Thanks for letting me know about the URL, btw. Fixed now.
Well I’m stalking you then *grin*
But somehow I still don’t get the hype about Twitter! It’s still just a generic chat room. There were many sites that had this before.
But I can follow you on your blog….i don’t see the point of Twitter = }
Everytime I’m convinced to go check it out, my reaction is, “What? Read what people are doing? Why?” I suppose I just don’t have enough friends who would use it.
For me, the biggest draw is that it allows me to feel connected to my friends (regardless of where they are) without having to constantly work at keeping in touch. It’s like they’re in the room with you but only when you want them to be :) It’s not a distraction like IM (which I usually keep off because I can’t get any work done otherwise.)
I’m using Miranda IM because I’m an old ICQ-user and some of my friends are still on it. I run it without any sounds and mostly minimized as a tray icon. Like this it’s not really distracting for me. I also chat here alot: http://www.lemon64.com/ (Chat only visible when registered in the Forum! It’s like a Twitter for C64 nostalgics LOL) :)
Well ok, if it means the chance at knowing when you’re playing Zelda, or working on a new secret API, I’m game!!
Hola…
Are there any flash/flex/amfphp meetings, events or gatherings anywhere in or around the SouthEast UK coming up soon…?
I was really excited when I found http://londonmmug.org/showthread.php?p=1571#post1571 but then noticed it was posted on 13th May 2006, 15:36… :-(
