In 2008, over one thousand people experienced the world’s first virtual web conference. Together, we created a new type of conference that is environmentally-friendly, affordable, and interactive.

In 2009, we are going to take it one step further.

FACT Off! is live.

Don't want to have to sit through an annoying FACT message every time you watch a legitimately-bought DVD? Don't want to watch threatening messages when you go to the cinema? Annoyed by FACT and want to do something about it?

Come join the conversation at FACT Off! and let's see what we can do about it.

Personally, I don't believe that the tactics being employed by FACT benefit consumers. In fact, they work to alienate legitimate customers and may even force them to embrace pirated media which at least doesn't threaten and harass them. Personally, I see nothing wrong with wanting to protect your copyright but I find FACT's tactics to be completely unacceptable.

It's time we communicated our displeasure to FACT and other bodies and did something about it.

Do you feel the same? Then come lend your support to FACT Off!

  1. I’m with you - although I wouldn’t go as far as putting any effort in such a campaign :-)
What I do do though is run DVDShrink on such DVDs and burn a copy of it minus all the rubbish, leaving just the movie. You’re right, I shouldn’t have to do that and maybe it’s not even legal (but surely a backup copy of a DVD I own is fair use!) but it’s good enough for me.
Or better still - this saves the burning - just rip it onto your HD and watch from there, less clunky DVDs to handle too. That reminds me, tons more CDs and DVDs to run through the system…
