Macworld 2007: Steve Jobs’s keynote rocked
I don't have time to go into detail -- and I'm sure every little detail has been posted elsewhere but it was great to be at the Macworld keynote today. The iPhone is an amazing mobile phone -- I can't believe it'll be end of year until we get it in the UK. I can't wait to trash my Windows Mobile phone the *moment* this baby is released.

The iPhone sure does look awesome. Especial to anyone who has endured the pain of Windows Mobile. I’m real close to becoming a “switcher”…

It’s going to run OSX, so I suspect installing the Flash Player may be identical to installing it on your iMac…That’d be nice.

Lee: Not sure. But that would rock! I would love a custom Flash player for this phone that takes advantage of all the neat usability features. I don’t know if Adobe are even talking with Apple about this though. I sure hope so.

Dashboard widgets can display Flash content since they’re built on top of Web Kit, but Apple hasn’t broadcasted that much, if at all. Not that they should, just using this to suggest that perhaps Safari on the iPhone will be just a robust as Safari on any Mac, and Apple isn’t interested in discussing how to activate plugins just yet. I really don’t know, but Jobs did seem eager to communicate that the iPhone’s version of OSX, or Safari isn’t going to be a stripped down version. = } But flash can get realy hairy, real fast = }

But yeah, personally I don’t think that the iPhone will/can have the same version of Safari that we have on our desktops. Can it? Naaahhh. And of course it’ll have it’s own specialized version of OSX mobile or whatever they’re calling it, with it’s own unique set of software development specs.
lol, if the world was suddenly able to play a scaled version of WoW on their iPhone, I think it would all fall apart. But at least it’ll have Flash Lite, right?

I am so envious that you got to see the premiere of iPhone. I don’t know about ethics, but Apple sure has design down to Art… Please let us all know what you have been able to find out about uploading FlashLite or J2ME development to the svelte new handset. Best regards - come to NYC once in awhile

So I recently watched this on my iPod (which does enrich my life) and as a technologist yes apple’s products are amazing and excellent. But although with all my other human instincts and faults I do also have a humanist instinct. This keynote did not rock in my opinion, it rocked if you’re too greedy or uneducated to recognise where human civilsation is currently headed
Job’s attitude towards patents I found very distasteful. As I did with all the mindless audience reactions, some American’s are hard to love (but some are not! check out film “this is what democracy looks like”). I love apple’s products but such blindness* to humanist issues by leaders like jobs (for example http://www.greenpeace.org/apple/about.html) means our current civilisation is doomed - but it doesn’t have to be that way
