I always find it amusing when people choose HTML/JavaScript based purely on open source ideology. Aren't they aware that their application is executed by more than 85% of their audience in a proprietary, closed source and often standards-non-compliant runtime called Internet Explorer?

This is a runtime environment that has attempted over and over again to implement the 'adopt and extend' philosophy of it's creator.

I'm not saying that HTML and JavaScript aren't appropriate technologies, in fact I believe a vast majority of SWF content out there (including much of my own) should have been implemented as HTML. I'm just saying that given the facts, the runtime license arrangement shouldn't be abused as a reason to choose HTML over SWF.
