The Adventures of B.VioletI love Brighton. No, it's not because two very hot chicks just walked in front of my house, hand-in-hand. (OK, so I'm not compaining) I just love the vibe of this town; the people.

Case in point: I went down to the coffee shop at Borders to do a little work and ended up talking to B. (Finally, someone else who wants a pair of Heelys!) Of course, B.'s not her real name but I couldn't see her name on her band's MySpace page so I'm thinking maybe it's a mystery thing and I shouldn't ruin it. Anyway, so B. has a band and they do electric hip-hop (or "electric-ironica", according to their band's website.)

Check out her songs. "Polaroid" is the best thing I've heard in a while.

I can't help thinking how cool it would be to have them perform at Flash on the Beach. John, you listening? :)

The Adventures of B.Violet

  1. Really? The best thing you’ve heard (in a while)?

Really? Me thinks you are smitten with this lass. I suppose she could sing Barbie Girl flawlessly and by her appearance in the photo she fits the bill. I do applaud you for searching out “less than mainstream talent” which is where you will find some of the best Flash/Flex/AS talents out there. Undiscovered we are.

How many men have learned to love, Country, Punk, Classical, etc… because some woman liked just that? Probably close to the current population of men worldwide.

  2. LOL soso true

  3. Believe it or not, it’s the music :) I love strong Christina Aguilera/Pink/Gwen Stefani-esque vocals. (Well, that and I don’t normally listen to a lot of music!)

The coolest thing is that this place is just full of artistic talent. You can’t turn around without bumping into an actor/singer/painter/Flasher!

  4. aral – have you hear a song called “i’m rich” by the yeahyeahyeahs?

talk about your strong woman vocals!

  5. Aral, are you… on glue? I had a listen and her voice is so whiny and shrill for me, I can see the Gwen link you spoke about but it’s a poor effort and this Miss B doesn’t have the range. Not to mention the lyrics read like a sixteen year old girl crushed and dumped but as the singer looks around 35 and is a dead ringer for “what ever happened to Baby Jane” teenage heartache is surely not the case. But the cherry on the icing for me are those cheap tinny sound effects that are so crap they are almost ironic, remember that episode of Friends when Ross had his own gig at Central Perk? “infinite tiiiiiiiiimmmmmmeeee – tick tock tick tock” haha!
A lot of people come here to Brighton to experiment and Adventures of BViolet seem like they are just pissin about having a laugh so I wouldn’t take it too seriously, they surely don’t.
