Hi Ellen,

The best thing to do would be to contact Adobe directly. I know that they have OEM agreements for most of their technologies.

Hi, I've read the EULA reccomandations.
I've a question.
I've have to do a cd-rom. I would like import the pdf as flashpaper. But I'd like to disable the external link to adobe site (I agree with the Logo Flashpaper on the application, but on a cd, that can be see not on-line I'd like to disable the possibility of external links...)

Is that possible (as far the EULA licence is concerned) and if Yes... haow may I do it...?
Thanks a lot

Hi Aral,

this is what Adobe says (my questions are marked ">"):

In general Adobe said:

As FlashPapers viewer is sort of like a mini Adobe Reader, we wanted to make it so that people who wanted to re-brand the ?Reader? to purchase a special license from us.

We did add hooks into the software to allow people who were embedding FlashPaper into other Flash (or Director) applications to hide certain of the UI controls, and even, if that be the case, to obscure them. All of this is perfectly okay.

What you cannot do according to the license is to create a custom version of DefaultViewer2.swf, or otherwise modify it, so that the documents have a different user experience than we delivered.

And here are the answers on my questions:

> 1. Is it okay to change the Flashpaper UI (user interface)?

1) You cannot modify the DefaultViewer2.swf

> 2. Which parts of the UI am I allowed to modify?

> a) All buttons (such as 'Print' visible/not visible asf.)?
> Seems to be allowed, because there is an official tutorial for this
> on the Adobe site:
>

2)a) This is allowed using the SDK (Software Development Kit)

> b) The coloring of the UI? ...

b) This .... is violating the EULA, though if colour is all they are changing,
    it is minor.

> c) The Flashpaper-Logo?
> This really would make sense in terms of selling the product Flashpaper.
> Afaik I'm not obliged to show the Flash-Logo in a Flash production, so
> why should I have to do it in Flashpaper? And -for me- it would be okay
> to show the Flashpaper at the end of my CD-ROM presentation (with 100%
> of users looking at it [I use exitlock to guide the user to a credits screen]).

c) We sympathize with you, but this is explicitly what we wanted to not allow.

> d) The scroller?
> That would be very helpfull (even only changing the highlight color of the
> buttons and scrollbar would really be very much appreciated) and again a
> good argument for marketing.

d) This would be violating the strict terms of the EULA, though is a very
    minor transgression.

> 3. A general question: does it make any difference (concerning Eula
> regulations) if I change the interface of Flashpaper directly, or if I use
> a wrapper like Flash or Director to do so.

3) Using a wrapper, everything is fine. Reverse engineering and modifying
    the DefaultViewer.swf file is not.

Hope that helps
regards
