Regarding Visual Studio-based tools for Flash/Flex development, you might be interested in having a look at SharpStyle Neutron. That is a plug-in for ActionScript 2.0 development in Microsoft Visual Studio 2005. Current version of Neutron only supports AS2. We are planning Flex/AS3 support for later this year.

I've seen the FDT's demos and it's amazing. The workflow is very similar to Java development. There's a great work and effort on the FDT plugin.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
But I love ASDT and how it's evolving. I will follow using ASDT because I prefer Open Source plugins where I can change it as needed. In fact, that's the main point to switch to Eclipse...&lt;br /&gt;
