I had assumed that the action sheet icon "Twitter for iPhone" used was intended as open in external application. I have also noticed other applications starting to use it. I hope Apple address this now there is app switching in iOS4, either by changing the HIG or by releasing a new icon for opening in external app. Rob Very nice Aral. Even though the sample project shows the large version of the icons on a tab bar for the sake of completeness, I can't think of a use case where it would make sense to have an "open in external application" icon on a tab bar since a tab bar, by its very nature, represents "different views or modes in an application" (and an external application is <em>not</em> a view or mode of your application). As such, although it may look pwetty, please don't use this icon in a tab bar. PS.
