At the urging of Patrick Welfringer and Paul Booth, I've updated the playerversion.com site.
playerversion.com is a deliberately unstyled, one-page site that simply tells you which version of the Flash Player you are running, what the latest Flash Player version is, and gives you links to Flash Player-related information useful to developers.
With the latest update,
- The site now displays the current latest player versions for Linux, OS X, and Windows via Adobe.com (previously, I was manually updating this).
- Added link to Flash Player 10 release notes (link courtesy of Patrick).
I hope you continue to find the site useful!
Have your say!
As in all things, my approach to blog posts is that they should evolve over time and your feedback is invaluable in achieving this by helping me fix factual errors, fill in details, and expand the original post.
Do you use playerversion.com? Is it helpful or a waste of bandwidth? Is there anything you'd find useful that isn't listed on the site? Leave a comment and let me know!

Thanks! It’s always such a chore to find the equivalent page at the ever-evolving Adobe site.
Useful. I’ve sent a bunch of people there + I’ve used it myself whenever in doubt.
Keep it up!
I’ve put something similar on my web site that covers also some other plugins (silverlight, quicktime, window media, java).

Very useful. I especially like the fact that it displays whether it’s a debug player or not. Adobe’s site omits this information.
I use it. It’s simple and easy to remember.
Thanks Aral, simple and quick, exactly what we need! Also a great way for clients to tell you what versions they are using.
Useful tool. I think another great thing to add would be two auto-update flash modules that just have a dummy swfobject set to require the latest version of Flash Player 9 and 10. That way you can always easily update to the latest version directly from the page.
hey i remember that site from ages ago… thanks for updating it.. the site always seems to find its way back to me when browser/flash player goes awol on me…
with flash player 10 around… i know this sounds like a stretch, but it would be dead cool to put up a benchmark test on the same domain… eg has 3d/audio/video average fps…
Hi Aral,
Just realized there’s a little bug in the page’s markup. There’s an unclosed br tag where latest version for each system is shown. Just search the HTML code by “<br” and you’ll get it.
It seems FF and the like somehow compensate the problem, but it renders oddly in IE, that’s probably why it took so long for someone to find out : )
Cheers,
Juan
playerversion.com appears to be broken (current OS build numbers not being displayed/linked to).
My framework (http://sekati.googlecode.com) implements a link to your playerversion.com site as a context menu item btw.
Thanks,
Jason
