Great article. I got one on Tuesday and so far the reception is lousy. I came across this article. ( http://www.iphoneatlas.com/2008/07/12/boosting-iphone-3g-signal-strength/ ) Might be useful to others. It’s happening all over apparently, not just UK, so something must be wrong with the phone.

Aral, that article was freaking awesome lol! I think that was the most interchanging blog of urs yet.. hell I’m writing this with a broken right wrist lol! Regarding the signal issues, all I know is my two friends that got a 3G over here in Cali have the same issue. Not sure how bad British customer service is, but I have to guess by experience it puts US customer service to shame. I should find out this weekend though :-D
Keep up the good work and blog more often, I run the risk of actually having to work during my normal hours.

I wonder if the new iPhone has worse reception in general. I think I read something similar elsewhere… dunno.

I dunno. In many regards, the iPhone is a cheap phone with a big price tag. I own the 1st gen and I will probably pick up iPhone2

That said, I am very interested in what Google comes up with in the end. Actually, I bet Android will be hacked into the iPhone hardware at some point. Still, there are a lot of features the iPhone still lacks that less-expensive phones have. I still dig the iPhone interface and I like the large screen. In fact, that large screen is the reason I am sticking with the iPhone. I would be very tempted to switch to a different smartphone if I found one with a nicer touch screen.

Sometimes I think particular transactions are simply just doomed. Or, maybe it’s me. But, whatever. Sounds like the harder you push the harder it doesn’t go your way. Funny story though.
