It’s ok, a friend has told me that I need to use the Terminal window on my Mac to get SSH access. I have contacted my hosting provider to get more info from them.

Hi Adrian,

I ran into that also. If you’re on a Linux box (or on your MacBook), open up a terminal window (in OS X, run Terminal.app) and then just paste that text into it and hit return. That should do it :)

On Windows, I’m assuming a symbolic link would be a shortcut? You could try creating one in Windows Explorer and pointing it to the wp-cache-phase1.php file. (Sorry, I haven’t been doing much on windows since I switched.)

Hi Aral,

Sorry to bug you (I know you are a very busy guy), but I was wondering if you could help. When I go in to my WP-Cache Manager it says this …

advanced-cache.php link does not exist
Create it by executing:
ln -s /home/adrianpcom/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-cache/wp-cache-phase1.php /home/adrianpcom/public_html/wp-content/advanced-cache.php
in your server

How do I go about ‘exectuting it in my server’? Is this something I have to do from my Windows Command Prompt. I have a MacBook as well if it makes it any easier for you to explain.

Not sure how this post ranks so high in Google but it does, I just enabled WP Cache myself for my site. I’ve had a couple DB issues as a result of not enabling it so I figure it’s time to enable it. My blog is only a week old though, didn’t procrastine for quite as long ;)

BTW, I’d caution against using Super Cache if WP-Cache works for you. It’s overkill (unless you’re dugg/dotted frequently), and has a couple of *possible* security flaws — check the WP forums.

I’ve looked at it but don’t really get the traffic… What does it do to your stats? Do you have index.php AND index.html??

It's a great plugin... unfortunately it's no longer being developed, and a couple of months ago a new spin off version (wp-super-cache) was released that fixes a number of bugs and adds a stack of new features making it faster and more efficient.
