No more text link ads

  1. so, err, which plugin didja use? Also, why didn’t you go for the aralbalkan.com/no_more_text_links approach?

  2. Hi Sakri,

Umm… plugin? Sorry, I’m confused. Are you referring to the URL structure on the blog? If so, because I like short URLs and I feel they’re even more important today with the proliferation of the mobile Internet! :)

  3. Short URL’s are great if you know what they are for. I would have a clue what’s written in the post 906 if I viewed it in my history on my laptop or phone.

Not saying you should change it, just an alternative opinion.

  4. Sorry man, I’m a retard, I should bar myself from commenting on blogs, especially at 7:01 am :D

I suppose the one lonely seed bouncing in my watermelon read : “no more adding text links” or so. Then, I just associated that to an issue I’m having…

I looked at your url, then figured you had changed from “.com/?id=1102″ to “.com/1102″ and blogged about it. I guessed some wordpress plugin handled the URL creation/parsing. I have a crappy/unnecessary blog, and I hate the fact that the urls are “blog?id=3″. I’ve just never had the time to even look into fixing it, so I was hoping you had a cut’n'paste silver bullet for me ;)

Again, apologies for polluting your blog… and, if I may, what is it that big bro no like?

  5. Heh, Google is trying control bloggers? I just saw, my site ranking is so low now… Search result-count gone down (4 times)…

Not sure, what to say :-) Time to start using Yahoo! Search

  6. Hi Sakri,

Nope, I’m the retard :) Your comment made me re-read my one-line post and realize that I didn’t have “ads” in the title or the body. So I added it to make it clearer what I was referring to. Funny how people can’t read my mind sometimes :)

    So thanks! :)

@Abdul: They don’t control bloggers. You can chose not to care about your PR, etc. But I decided that I didn’t want to have text links on my sites any more.

  7. Hi Aral,

how goes it? Hope you’re well? This interests me as I was about to ask you about ways of making money from hits and presumed that text links to ads was one way. Is Google banning this to protect it’s own google ads scheme?

Any other ideas as to how I can make money from my site? i get loads of hits but make not one single penny from it, seems crazy?!?!?!
