SWX PHP AVM2/Flash 9: Status update
I'm excited to announce that we have three excellent developers who are currently involved in writing the Flash 9 assembler for SWX and I'd like to introduce you to them.
Richard Lord is an ActionScript, PHP, and all-things-binary guru who by day creates cool Flash games with his company Big Room in London. I met Richard at Flash on the Beach this year and he graciously agreed to help out with the project. Richard's just completed some of the key methods on the SWX 9 assembler and his code is going to make it _much_ easier for us to move on with the rest of it.
Also on the project are two of our newest members, Chris Sperry and Tom Kennett from FlexibleFactory here in Brighton. This uber-geek duo are known as the Flash A-Team here -- because if you have a Flash problem that no one else can solve... well, you get the idea. In their spare time they do things like port Sinclair Spectrum emulators to Flash. And now, they're on board with the Flash 9 version of SWX. Yay!
So things have kicked off and we're working on it. I'll update you guys again when we have more to share.

Sweet, can you “add the link” when it’s done on http://www.flashbookmarks.com (right down corner). Good luck all, looking forward at it.

Yes, great news, Aral! The Flash community comes through yet again for the greater good. Please let me know if/when you need beta testers!

Thanks for the update. I view this project as one of the most important flash projects out their when you combine it with CakePHP or really anything you can rapidly build great RIA:) Thanks again we all really appreciate your work!

That’s really exciting. I get my copy of Flash CS3 tomorrow from work and now I can continue learning AS3. Knowing that SWX PHP will eventually be available brings a big smile to my face. Thanks for all your hard work.
SWX really is a great tool, I’m really bummed now that I missed your talk at Flashforward Boston. I’ve been trying to get all the info from various blogs and links. Next time I won’t miss it for sure!

SWX is dead without AS3 support

“SWX is dead without AS3 support”
Really?
Is that true Aral?

LOL, no SWX isn’t dead without AS3 support, it’s alive and well and living in AS2 projects and on Flash Mobile.
It’s true that I’m not working on an AS3 version. Several people on the list have a version working via LocalConnection. If anyone wants to bite the bullet and write the AS3 assembler, then please do. I just don’t have enough hours in the day to do that _and_ organize Singularity.
SWX is what it is. SWX will be what you make it.
